About the Role

The Battery Cell - Supplier Industrialization team at Tesla focuses on innovating battery cells and raw materials through new process development, qualification, and quality engineering at suppliers. As a Supply Chain Program Manager, you will collaborate with various internal and external teams to bring new battery raw material concepts from inception to mass manufacturing. You will be the key representative of the battery cell supply chain, acting as the main liaison between Supply Chain, Tesla’s Executive Team, Engineering, and Manufacturing departments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, analyze, consolidate, and clearly communicate risks and status updates, highlighting critical challenges and proposing resolution paths in cross-functional forums and to senior leadership.
  • Oversee phase gate development cycles for battery cell raw materials.
  • Ensure readiness of factories and production lines at multiple supplier locations prior to mass production commencement.
  • Create and monitor project timelines to assess project health and proactively report potential schedule delays to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Offer comprehensive visibility on program progress and essential performance indicators for Supply Chain, Engineering, and Manufacturing teams.

Candidate Profile

  • Possess a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Material Science & Engineering.
  • Have at least 8 years of experience managing new product development from design through to mass production in high-volume manufacturing environments.
  • Familiarity with Phase Gate or Stage Gate product development methodologies.
  • Master’s degree or MBA is advantageous; experience within the battery industry is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities with confidence in presenting to senior management.
  • Highly detail-oriented while maintaining a strategic overview.
  • Proven experience in identifying process inefficiencies and implementing significant improvements.
  • Previous technical background in process development, quality engineering, or design engineering is preferred.
  • Willingness to travel extensively (50-60%) to manufacturing sites located throughout Europe.
  • Commitment to promoting sustainability in everyday work, complying with Tesla’s Global Environmental, Health, Safety & Security policies and EMAS standards, fostering continuous environmental improvement.
