Job description

Position Summary

We are seeking a Supply Chain Director for a reputable food manufacturing company located in the Los Angeles region. This role demands full onsite presence for 5 days a week. Candidates must be willing to relocate as relocation assistance is available. The director will oversee comprehensive supply chain functions including demand and materials planning, production scheduling, inventory and warehouse management, and order fulfillment to consistently meet high operational and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead raw materials planning and production scheduling ensuring consistent product availability and operational excellence.
  • Translate forecast and demand plans into executable production and supply schedules using MRP and ERP systems.
  • Manage order processing and shipping to guarantee accurate and timely customer deliveries.
  • Supervise all warehouse operations including receiving, storage, and distribution with a focus on inventory control and cost management.
  • Develop and enforce policies to enhance inventory accuracy, warehouse efficiency, and cost effectiveness.
  • Oversee warehouse functions supporting production such as batching, kitting, and returns, maintaining clear processes and accountability.
  • Evaluate warehouse performance, identify improvement areas, and implement operational enhancements.
  • Ensure proper and disciplined use of ERP planning systems (experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 is a plus) to maintain data integrity and accurate supply chain planning.
  • Continuously review and refine planning parameters for better decision making and operational visibility.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to optimize receiving, storage, shipping, sanitation, safety, and inventory operations.
  • Reduce inventory losses from expiration and obsolescence and optimize storage capacity and productivity.
  • Manage working capital related to raw materials and finished goods inventory, balancing stock levels to avoid excess or shortages.
  • Produce and share inventory and operational reports with cross-functional teams.
  • Collaborate closely with sales, product development, quality, customer service, procurement, and operations to align supply chain activities with business goals.
  • Set strategic direction and operational goals for supply chain activities at the manufacturing site, ensuring alignment with organizational strategies.
  • Monitor key performance indicators and implement corrective measures as needed.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, recruitment support, and career development for the supply chain team.
  • Participate in annual budgeting related to inventory, operational costs, and capital investments.
  • Communicate performance metrics and operational insights to senior leadership.
  • Perform additional duties as necessary to support business operations.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Extensive supply chain management experience, particularly in Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP), MRP processes, and production scheduling.
  • Proven record managing warehouse operations including shipping and receiving.
  • Experience working with perishable products is preferred.
  • Background in large volume SKU environments is advantageous.
  • Candidates with experience in larger companies preferred, though high potential candidates from smaller firms will be considered.
