Job description
Overview
A leading consumer goods and food manufacturer in the North West is hiring a Supply Chain Director to join its senior leadership team at a time of strong expansion and operational change. This position is central to building the operational strength, systems and supply chain performance needed for the company’s next phase of growth.
The right person will combine long-range thinking with a practical, hands-on approach. You should be comfortable shaping business direction while staying close to day-to-day operations, identifying inefficiencies and turning plans into measurable outcomes.
Role Summary
As a senior leader, you will own the full supply chain remit, including warehousing, inventory, planning, logistics and broader operational improvement. The aim is to create a function that reliably delivers excellent customer service, healthy stock levels, disciplined cost management and processes that can scale with the business.
This role suits someone who can contribute at board level on strategy and also spend time on the operational floor, reviewing performance with managers and driving continuous improvement across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Set direction for the supply chain and wider operational strategy.
- Improve customer service levels, fulfilment outcomes and day-to-day operational consistency.
- Manage inventory and working capital efficiently while protecting service quality.
- Design processes, systems and controls that can support business growth.
- Increase productivity across warehousing, transport/logistics and operational teams.
- Champion ongoing improvement initiatives aimed at better efficiency, service and lower cost.
- Coach and develop operational managers and help create a high-performing culture.
- Bring useful operational data, insight and challenge to senior leadership discussions.
- Maintain strong standards in safety, compliance and operational control.
Candidate Profile
You will be an established supply chain or operations leader with a strong history of delivering results in a fast-moving, product-focused business.
- Proven leadership across the full supply chain.
- Deep knowledge of warehousing, inventory management and logistics.
- Ability to grow operations without losing control or service quality.
- Commercial understanding, including the key drivers of working capital.
- Experience leading change and improving operational performance.
- Strong leadership and stakeholder engagement capability.
- Practical, resilient and credible leadership style.
- Comfort moving between strategic planning and hands-on execution.
Offer
This is a strong opportunity to join an ambitious and successful business where you will have real influence over operational strategy and the autonomy to make a meaningful difference. You will also be working alongside a high-calibre team.
