Job description

About the Company

Young & Franklin Tactair began in 1918 as Young & Franklin Tool Works in Syracuse, and the business has since grown into a manufacturer of high-precision aerospace and power generation components. The company builds, assembles, and tests valves and actuators with low-volume, high-mix production and very tight tolerances. Its facility includes research and development, design engineering, assembly and test operations, and a large machine shop. The organization continues to invest in new equipment and operates as part of TransDigm Group, a major supplier of engineered aerospace components. The team values innovation, design, and manufacturing excellence across a diverse workforce.

Role Summary

This role combines production planning with process improvement work to strengthen the planning function and improve delivery performance. The analyst will own the schedule for complex, mixed aerospace products and work toward maintaining on-time delivery above 95%. The position involves coordinating with internal teams to remove production bottlenecks, recommending recovery actions when milestones are missed, and communicating realistic ship dates or delays to Sales and Marketing. It also requires a strong analytical mindset, experience working with database query tools and dashboards, and familiarity with continuous improvement practices. Background in Six Sigma, statistical analysis, and APICS certifications such as CSCP or CPIM would be an advantage.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain the production schedule so customer delivery commitments and internal revenue goals are met.
  • Evaluate customer demand, plant capacity, and material availability to determine ship dates for Sales and Marketing.
  • Keep management informed about work-in-progress status, material constraints, and any issues that could affect on-time delivery.
  • Work closely with Operations Managers, the Machine Shop Manager, Manufacturing Engineers, Shop Floor Group Leaders, Quality teams, and Planners to sequence, accelerate, and complete parts on time.
  • Coordinate expedited orders by keeping the relevant departments aligned and informed.
  • Continuously balance workload against capacity limits at the resource level.
  • Release manufacturing jobs, monitor adherence to the daily schedule, and escalate obstacles that could disrupt execution.
  • Use Epicor ERP data to identify patterns, analyze supply chain performance, and generate insights that support improvement efforts.
  • Create dashboards and KPIs to track performance and highlight opportunities for better results.
  • Apply statistical methods to improve inventory planning and stock levels.
  • Use Lean Six Sigma and other continuous improvement tools to reduce waste and improve processes.
  • Explore AI-enabled approaches to automate parts of the planning workflow.
  • Carry out other related duties as needed.

Requirements

  • The candidate must be a US Person under applicable export rules, or a non-US person eligible to receive the required export authorization.
  • A bachelor’s degree is required in Industrial Engineering, Engineering and Management, Supply Chain Management, Data Analytics, Logistics, or a closely related field.
  • Strong ability to write queries, interpret data, and turn analysis into clear business insights.
  • Exposure to or hands-on experience with planning systems such as Epicor, SAP, MAPICS, or similar tools.
  • Solid understanding of business processes and how planning systems are used to improve production flow.
  • Strong analytical ability and excellent command of Excel.
  • Self-driven and proactive, with strong communication skills in both written and verbal form.
  • Comfortable working independently with little supervision as well as collaborating in a cross-functional team.
  • Preference for candidates with experience using Power BI, Power Query, Epicor BAQ, and SQL.
  • Helpful background in Six Sigma, statistical analysis, and APICS certifications like CSCP or CPIM.
  • Physical requirements include sitting, standing, walking, and interacting throughout the day in an office setting, lifting up to 10 pounds for filing or storage, and moving through manufacturing areas where PPE such as safety glasses and hearing protection is required.
