Job description
Job purpose
This role is focused on building market intelligence and supplier research capabilities to evaluate market conditions, pricing movements, and cost structures. The position also supports sourcing decisions and supplier performance management while keeping supplier relationship management (SRM) activities aligned with the organization’s procurement governance standards.
Key responsibilities
- Create, refine, and roll out a market intelligence framework that helps strengthen competitiveness in the marketplace.
- Gather, assess, and keep up to date data on supply trends, commodity changes, and cost drivers to spot opportunities and risks in sourcing.
- Design a systematic approach to market research for the materials and services handled by the Supply department.
- Support the SRM framework by tracking supplier performance metrics, feedback, and audit outcomes.
- Build and maintain analytical tools, templates, and reports that improve visibility into markets and commodities and highlight shifts, supplier results, and improvement opportunities.
- Present research findings and performance insights to supply teams and management to support tender reviews and supplier negotiations.
- Develop working relationships with internal stakeholders to understand new needs and identify areas requiring market analysis.
- Recommend improvements that strengthen supplier relationships, simplify SRM processes, and ensure continued compliance with governance requirements.
- Identify high-value procurement categories and carry out targeted research to support negotiations, strategic sourcing, and cost avoidance.
- Work with contracting and procurement teams to collect feedback, update supplier records, identify performance gaps, and guide use of market intelligence tools in supplier discussions.
- Prepare market analysis reports and presentations for Supply Leadership Team reviews, with attention to market changes and volatility.
- Coordinate supplier performance reviews to ensure alignment with KPIs, QLMS standards, and contract obligations, and highlight areas for improvement.
- Track and report major market developments, geopolitical events, and technology changes that could affect supplier capability and sourcing strategy.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business, economics, industrial engineering, or science.
- At least 8 years of experience in supply chain, procurement, or supplier relationship management, preferably with a market research or analytics focus in the oil and gas sector.
- Hands-on experience with supplier performance monitoring, market intelligence tools or systems, and data-based decision-making.
- Strong understanding of KPIs and how they support supplier relationship and performance improvement.
