Overview
At Tesla's Gigafactory Berlin-Brandenburg, the Supplier Industrialization and Quality team oversees component development, part and process qualification, and continuous supplier quality improvement. This team ensures quality management by addressing issues collaboratively among suppliers, engineering, production, and quality assurance departments.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage in industrialization efforts within the supply chain.
- Collaborate with cross-functional groups including Quality, Design, Operations, and Logistics to troubleshoot and solve problems.
- Prepare and assess Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCARs) for detail and accuracy, liaising directly with suppliers to promptly contain issues at Tesla and supplier sites, and drive comprehensive problem resolution with appropriate escalation.
- Manage sample returns to suppliers for failure analysis, perform measurements at Tesla, or obtain additional data as needed.
- Conduct defect analysis using basic metrology tools, coordinate specialized testing, and share findings with internal teams and suppliers.
- Work alongside quality, manufacturing, production control, and logistics teams to update SCARs with defect quantities and cost details.
- Oversee sample parts and organize line trials related to SCAR actions with internal teams.
- Coordinate activities of supplier liaisons at Tesla, setting priorities aligning with production schedules and business requirements.
- Make cross-functional decisions on disposition of suspect components.
- Support logistics and production control to quarantine defective materials, manage returns to vendors or scrap, and assist in cost recovery during chargeback processes.
- Uphold Tesla's and industry standards for compliance, quality, procedures, and ethics.
Qualifications and Skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Minimum three years’ experience in manufacturing quality or production roles at a technician level.
- Strong problem-solving capabilities and familiarity with quality tools.
- Experience with Quality Systems is advantageous.
- Understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), Lean Manufacturing, and how to apply them to enhance quality and efficiency while reducing costs.
- Knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) is a plus.
- Leadership experience and ability to direct supplier efforts.
- Experienced in working with metrology instruments and conducting part defect evaluations.
- Excellent communication skills to coordinate supplier activities and convey complex information clearly.
- Track record of fulfilling customer expectations and requirements.
- Ability to excel in a dynamic, fast-paced setting with strong team collaboration skills.
- Skilled in technical writing to simplify complex issues.
- Flexible to work varied shifts (early, late, night).
