Overview

The Supplier Quality Engineering team at Tesla safeguards the production line from disruptions caused by supplier quality problems, working closely with factory and supply chain teams to identify, contain, and resolve issues efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engage in daily Material Review Board meetings to investigate supplier quality concerns promptly, designate defect ownership, and assist teammates on complex problems impacting quality and productivity.
  • Lead containment actions for supplier-related issues, including quick sorting and rework of parts, developing work instructions, training inspectors, conducting spot audits, and reporting defect rates daily.
  • Evaluate Supplier Corrective Action Reports (SCARs) for detail and completeness, provide feedback or directly revise documentation, and ensure sorting issues close within strict timelines (21-30 days).
  • Manage critical part measurement tasks using metrology tools, initiate measurements, document and share results, coordinate advanced testing, and communicate findings with internal and supplier teams.
  • Arrange return shipments of samples to suppliers for failure analysis or further measurement, and collect supplementary data as necessary.
  • Execute part change trials, coordinating logistics, quality evaluations, and securing cross-departmental approval.
  • Oversee supplier representatives onsite, prioritize their tasks in alignment with production schedules and business goals.

Candidate Profile

  • Minimum of 3 years experience in fast-paced manufacturing environments within quality, manufacturing, or process engineering roles, or proven leadership of production teams.
  • Familiarity with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), manufacturing processes, and problem-solving methodologies.
