Supplier Industrialization Engineer, Interiors (m/w/d) - Gigafactory Berlin-Brandenburg

Role Overview

Join Tesla’s Supplier Industrialization team, where the focus is on advancing component development, qualifying parts and processes, managing quality, and driving ongoing improvement across suppliers. This position involves working closely with both internal and external stakeholders, communicating effectively across all levels, traveling to supplier sites in multiple regions, and making quick, well-reasoned decisions on the spot. The main objective is to develop suppliers by sharing strong manufacturing, quality, and engineering practices, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality components into Tesla’s production flow, accelerating development cycles and product launches, and applying lean manufacturing methods to cut waste and strengthen quality.

Key Responsibilities

• Own supplier industrialization work from R&D through series production, including product development, qualification, quality control, and new product introduction activities.
• Identify supplier-side ideas that improve quality or reduce cost, and feed design-for-manufacturing input back to engineering teams.
• Serve as the link between suppliers and Tesla’s purchasing, quality, and engineering functions to clarify technical expectations.
• Carry out supplier audits and assess whether suppliers can consistently meet requirements for material performance, delivery timing, and reliability.
• Monitor and improve supplier process development and readiness for launch, especially for new products and design updates.
• Review corrective actions from suppliers related to design or process changes, ensuring they are durable, effective, and transferable to similar risks across lines or suppliers.
• Manage supply-chain-related projects at a global level while pushing technical progress and cost-reduction initiatives forward.

Candidate Profile

The role calls for someone with an engineering background or equivalent demonstrated experience, along with a strong record in manufacturing, research, or quality engineering. Experience in supplier industrialization, customer quality, and product or application development in a raw material producer or qualified automotive supplier is important. The position also requires a solid grasp of problem-solving methods, lean processes, statistical analysis, design quality assessment, and improvement techniques. The ideal candidate should be comfortable in a fast-moving environment, able to prioritize effectively, and ready for hands-on work.

Additional Requirements

• A degree in Engineering, Mechanical, Chemical, Physics, or comparable practical experience is required.
• At least 5 years of experience in manufacturing, research, or quality engineering, with clear evidence of strong performance.
• Knowledge of PPAP and APQP processes, as well as automotive technical know-how, is necessary.
• Strong spoken and written English skills are essential.
• The position involves business travel within Germany and internationally, with travel expected to exceed 50% of working time and sometimes arranged at short notice.
• Candidates are expected to actively support sustainability principles and work in line with Tesla’s Global Environmental, Health, Safety & Security policy and EMAS requirements.
• The role requires a proactive approach to continuous environmental improvement.
