About the Role
We are looking for a diligent and proactive Supplier Assurance Officer to ensure consistent delivery of high-quality and compliant supply chain results at Austal Defence Australia (ADA). In this position, you will be integral in overseeing supplier performance, maintaining adherence to quality standards, and supporting core defence programs through strong assurance and compliance activities.

Austal is a leading global shipbuilder and defence prime contractor based in Australia, delivering innovative maritime technology solutions. We design, build, and support commercial and defence vessels for major clients worldwide with operational presence in Australia, USA, Philippines, and Vietnam. Under the Strategic Shipbuilding Agreement (SSA), Austal leads naval shipbuilding efforts in Western Australia to enhance sovereign capabilities and promote long-term industry growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Track and evaluate supplier performance metrics against established KPIs
- Identify and address risks, trends, and deviations, facilitating corrective measures
- Provide support during internal and external audits to ensure compliance readiness
- Assist in investigating and resolving quality and compliance concerns
- Maintain and update supply chain documentation adhering to QMS standards
- Support governance of processes, including documentation control and compliance efforts
- Deliver training on supply chain procedures to relevant stakeholders
- Collaborate with teams across procurement, quality assurance, and engineering
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance supply chain operations
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, Quality Management or equivalent experience
- Minimum of two years’ experience in supply chain, procurement, or quality assurance roles
- Proficiency with ERP systems such as IFS, SAP, Oracle, or similar platforms
- Strong capabilities in data analysis, reporting, and problem-solving
- Familiarity with root cause analysis and corrective action processes
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
Preferred Experience
- Experience conducting supplier or internal audits
- Knowledge of Quality Management Systems like ISO 9001
- Exposure to defence, maritime, or manufacturing sectors
- Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean or Six Sigma
- Advanced skills in Excel or data visualization tools like Power BI
