Position Overview
The Supervisor, Sports Marketing plays a pivotal role in activating GEICO's sports sponsorship portfolio. This position manages day-to-day operations of assigned sponsorships, coordinates cross-functional project efforts including social, influencer, creative, analytics, and go-to-market strategies, and drives activations from planning to completion with precision and effectiveness. The role involves managing partner relations, translating sponsorship assets into impactful activations, and supporting contracting and budgeting activities.
Work Environment and Expectations
This role requires hybrid work with three days onsite per week at corporate offices located in Chevy Chase, MD or Manhattan, NY. The position reports to the Senior Manager of Sports & Experiential Marketing and involves up to 20% travel, occasionally including weekends and off-hours.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day management of assigned sports sponsorships to ensure full utilization of partnership assets and flawless program execution.
- Maintain effective working relationships with properties and partners, ensuring clear communication and adherence to contract deliverables.
- Develop activation plans that transform sponsorship rights and assets into initiatives aligned with brand and business goals.
- Assist in contracting and negotiation efforts in collaboration with agencies and internal teams.
- Lead cross-functional project management across teams such as Social, Influencer, Creative, Analytics, and Go-to-Market, managing schedules, approvals, and deliverables.
- Coordinate closely with internal creative teams and external agencies to produce activation assets that fulfill requirements and brand standards.
- Partner with Experiential Marketing on live sport events ensuring integrated and seamless execution.
- Support measurement initiatives through recap data collection, performance tracking, and insights development to inform future activations.
- Assist with budget oversight including invoice processing and financial tracking.
- Identify process improvements to enhance internal coordination and the efficiency of sports partnership activations.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum of 6 years experience in sports marketing, sponsorship, partnership marketing, or experiential marketing with proven success in managing activations from initiation to recap.
- Deep knowledge of the sports marketing ecosystem including leagues, teams, schools, agencies, and partnership frameworks.
- Strong project management skills, adept at juggling multiple initiatives with high organization and accuracy.
- Experienced in managing working-level partnerships with properties, agencies, and vendors to drive execution.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to align cross-functional teams and keep projects moving independently.
- Analytical approach to evaluating recap data and integrating learnings for future improvements.
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, sports management, communications, or related field preferred.
- Preferred candidates may have direct contacts in sports marketing properties, leagues or agencies, experience with experiential or live-event activations, and familiarity with budget and invoice procedures.
Compensation and Terms
The annual salary range for this position is $91,225 to $141,450, determined based on factors including role scope, candidate experience, education, location, and market considerations.
