About the Role
This position is focused on keeping hold-baggage screening safe, accurate, and compliant within an airport security environment. The role involves using screening systems to identify prohibited or dangerous items, supporting inspections, maintaining records, and coordinating with security and airline teams to keep operations running smoothly.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete all required regulatory training and meet the necessary assessment standards.
- Use X-BIS screening systems to review baggage images and identify dangerous goods, prohibited items, weapons, or ammunition in line with applicable AVSEC circulars, orders, guidelines, and SOPs.
- Carry out physical checks and ETD testing for bags selected during X-ray screening.
- Maintain strong TIP (Threat Image Projection) performance to demonstrate effective image interpretation.
- Follow BCAS and DGCA security requirements throughout baggage screening and inspection work.
- Accurately record findings, actions, and operational details to support audit and inspection readiness.
- Perform pre-operational checks of X-BIS, ETD, CT-EDS, and related security equipment to ensure they are ready for use.
- Escalate equipment faults, breakdowns, or downtime and support updates to operational registers.
- Coordinate with CISF and airline personnel when physical inspection or suspicious-item resolution is required.
- Keep supervisors informed about active issues or situations that need attention.
- Ensure screening and inspection tasks are completed within strict timelines so airport operations are not delayed.
- Balance speed with accuracy to maintain security without affecting workflow.
- Maintain professional conduct, discipline, and adherence to company policies at all times.
- Interact courteously and professionally with passengers and other stakeholders as needed.
Requirements
- High school completion or an equivalent qualification is required.
- A bachelor’s degree or an equivalent qualification is also acceptable.
- TSA certification is mandatory.
- Preferred certifications include BCAS AVSEC basic course, BCAS standalone or inline screener certification, and DGCA-approved DGR CAT 12 certification.
- NCC “C” or “B” certificate holders are preferred.
- Freshers may apply, and candidates with 1 to 2 years of experience in security screening or a similar role are also suitable.
- Prior experience with screening equipment and security procedures, especially in an airport environment, is preferred.
- Applicants should meet the stated physical standards for vision, colour perception, hearing, speech, movement, smell, civility, appearance, and sobriety.
Additional Information
Technical competency areas linked to the role include BI and data analytics management, fraud and risk mitigation, in-line baggage holding and screening management, investigation and due diligence, security control room operations, and systems and technology management.
Physical standards: vision must be 20/60 or better in both eyes without glasses or lenses, or 20/20 in one eye and 20/30 in the other with corrective lenses; adequate colour perception is required; hearing loss in each ear should be below 30 dB for frequencies under 2000 Hz; speech must be clear and effective; and the role requires the ability to communicate without any pronounced speech impediment. Security personnel must also be able to detect odour and maintain a high standard of deportment, appearance, courtesy, and sobriety.
Work context: the position requires close coordination with internal teams such as the CSO Lead, AVSEC Audit & Compliance, Pass Section Lead, Duty Manager, Sr Screener, Terminal Operations, IT, HR, Compliance and Regulatory teams, and other airport departments. External coordination may include TSA, aircraft operators, airport authorities, passengers, ASG, BCAS, local police, service providers, law enforcement agencies, regulatory bodies, and industry associations.
