Role overview
RAC is hiring a Superflex Roadside Mechanic for the Stoke-on-Trent area. This position is designed for someone who can work flexibly and respond to changing operational needs while supporting members at the roadside.
Pay and working pattern
- Base pay is £50,669 per year, with the chance to increase overall earnings to £57,000 through bonuses and overtime.
- You will average 40 hours a week over the course of the year.
- Your rota will be shared seven days in advance, and your core hours will be confirmed three days before the shift.
- Working times can fall anywhere between 06:00 and 02:00.
- Shifts may include early starts, evenings, weekends, and bank holidays.
What the role involves
The position focuses on helping members get back on the road by diagnosing faults, carrying out repairs, and handling a wide range of roadside issues. Jobs may vary from technical diagnostics to tyre or battery-related call-outs, so adaptability and sound judgement are important.
Location and area coverage
You will be part of the Stoke-on-Trent cluster and may cover Stoke-on-Trent, Newcastle-under-Lyme, Stafford, Leek, Stone, and Uttoxeter. Work is organised locally so you can begin and end your day from home, focusing on your own area.
Requirements
- A Level 2 light vehicle maintenance qualification, or an equivalent credential.
- Proven experience with technical, electrical, and diagnostic work.
- A strong customer-first mindset.
- A full UK driving licence.
- Willingness to work on short notice when needed.
- Openness to travel and stay overnight if the role requires it.
