About the Role
Become a valued member of the RAC team as a Superflex Roadside Mechanic, where your flexibility and technical skills will play a key role in providing dependable roadside assistance across the Portsmouth area and its surroundings. This position offers a competitive base salary starting at £50,669, with the potential to earn up to £57,000 through bonuses and overtime.
Working Hours and Location
You will typically work around 40 hours weekly throughout the year. Rosters are provided at least seven days beforehand, with core hours confirmed three days prior. Your shifts may fall anywhere between 6:00 AM and 2:00 AM, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and bank holidays. Your primary work zone includes Portsmouth, Havant, Waterlooville, Fareham, Gosport, Chichester, and Emsworth. Working locally means you can start and end your day at home while focusing on helping RAC members in your local region.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct vehicle fault diagnostics and repairs on-site.
- Handle a wide range of roadside issues, including flat tyres and battery problems.
- Manage your equipment and maintain your RAC van's inventory and cleanliness.
- Complete accurate reports of your service calls promptly.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Possess at least a Level 2 qualification in light vehicle maintenance or an equivalent credential.
- Demonstrate strong technical, electrical, and diagnostic automobile knowledge.
- Have a full UK driving licence.
- Be customer-oriented with excellent interpersonal skills.
- Show flexibility to work with short notice and willingness to travel, including occasional overnight stays.
