Job description
Role Overview
This position is a fixed-term contract lasting 11 months, focusing on providing dedicated support to students with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
Primary Duties
- Offer tailored assistance to students to help manage challenging behaviours within the school environment, including crisis intervention during meltdowns.
- Collaborate with the SEN team to develop and apply behaviour management strategies and learning support plans alongside academic staff and other relevant parties.
- Keep detailed records of student progress and document interventions delivered.
- Support the organisation, execution, and facilitation of training sessions and advocacy initiatives geared towards students with SEN.
- Work jointly with the SEN team, academic personnel, and other stakeholders to foster an encouraging environment that promotes success for students with SEN.
- Participate in User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for the STAR student system's Case Management module.
Candidate Profile
- A genuine passion and aptitude for assisting students with special educational needs.
- Preferably holds qualifications in Inclusive and Special Education, Education, Psychology, Applied/Educational Psychology, Counselling, or a related field.
- A minimum of two years' experience supporting SEN students, ideally within educational or social service settings.
- Resourceful with strong problem-solving abilities, capable of working effectively with diverse individuals and collaborating across various teams involved in student support.
- Ability to function independently as well as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written, combined with reliable administrative capabilities.
- Proficient with IT, especially in data management using Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Experience in conducting workshops and managing events is advantageous.
