Job description

Job Summary

As a Youth Worker focused on student management, you will support the well-being and behaviour development of students through mentoring, counselling, and engagement programmes. You'll be responsible for behavioural support, incident investigation, supervision, and collaborating with school stakeholders to foster positive student outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support student well-being, manage behaviour, and encourage positive personal growth.
  • Facilitate one-on-one and small group mentoring, counselling, and intervention sessions.
  • Design and execute programmes that boost student engagement and resilience.
  • Create, monitor, and update behavioural support plans for students as needed.
  • Investigate incidents involving students by conducting interviews, reviewing surveillance footage, and aiding conflict resolution.
  • Oversee student discipline, detention, and daily routines during critical times.
  • Conduct home visits to provide support to students and their families when necessary.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate case records, reports, and documentation related to student management.
  • Coordinate with teachers, school leaders, and other relevant parties to track and promote student progress.
  • Assist with administrative duties and any additional tasks assigned by supervisors.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Diploma or professional qualification in Youth Work, Psychology, Counselling, Education, Behavioural Science, Social Services, Early Intervention Teaching, or related disciplines.
  • Genuine passion for working with children and youths, demonstrating a caring and positive mindset.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively with students.
  • Aptitude for developing rapport and facilitating discussions within small groups.
  • Experience in conducting workshops on topics like stress management and time management.
  • Consistent use of professional, respectful communication when interacting with students.
