Job Overview
Sunrise Academy, part of the Eastern Education Group located at Church Lane, Carlton Colville, Lowestoft, Suffolk NR33 8AX, is recruiting a dedicated Student Liaison Officer. This permanent full-time position involves 37-hour workweeks across 39 weeks annually, with a salary pro-rated between £25,185 and £25,989 (£21,377 to £22,059 annually). The role is to be filled as soon as possible.
Key Responsibilities
The chosen candidate will proactively engage with students to maintain a secure, inclusive, and respectful environment that supports all learners, particularly those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). Responsibilities include promoting positive behaviours, supporting student welfare, and managing incidents on campus, at bus stops, and during break and lunch periods. The post requires applying de-escalation, restorative justice, and negotiation strategies to help students manage emotions and behaviour. Duties also include monitoring campus access and collaborating with school staff, families, external agencies, local businesses, and the Police Community Support Officer to foster a supportive atmosphere, particularly for vulnerable and SEND students. Producing accurate reports on incidents and wellbeing concerns is essential to support safeguarding and effective decision-making.
Candidate Profile
Applicants should have experience working with young people in mainstream or SEND settings and possess excellent communication, relationship-building, safeguarding knowledge, and report-writing skills. Experience in the police, armed forces, or roles requiring high levels of personal judgment and negotiation is preferred. The ideal candidate will be qualified to Level 3, adaptable, patient, and able to operate within Eastern Education Group's policies.
