Job description
Overview
The Literature Department specializes in the history and theory of US-American literature from its origins to contemporary times, emphasizing its definition within North American, transatlantic, and global frameworks. The curriculum links literary studies with art, theatre, and film, addressing formal, social, and historical topics.
Primary Responsibilities
- Assist the department chair in organizing research and teaching materials, including the selection and compilation of English texts and bibliographies, and seminar preparation.
- Edit academic English texts through copyediting and proofreading.
- Create promotional posters.
- Maintain e-learning platforms such as Moodle and manage the bilingual department website.
- Support the conceptualization and execution of lectures, conferences, and events, some hosting international attendees.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Enrolled students majoring or minoring in North American literature (BA or MA).
- Completion of basic module UNA and the literary studies orientation module in BA North American Studies, or enrollment in the MA program focusing on literary studies.
- Excellent academic record.
- Proficiency in English and German at C1 level.
- Strong IT competencies.
- Demonstrated interest in academic research.
- Excellent communication and teamwork capabilities.
