Established in 1993, Liwa University with campuses in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain has been a foundational institution in higher education within the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. The university offers a wide range of 30 master’s, bachelor’s, and diploma programs across four main colleges: Media and Public Relations, Medical and Health Sciences, Business, and Engineering and Computing, supported by the General Education Department.

Role Overview

The Student Affairs & Engagement Senior Specialist plays a crucial role in enhancing the overall student experience by developing and executing programs that promote student success, leadership, and engagement in the university community. This role is responsible for spearheading student life initiatives such as student councils, clubs, events, orientation programs, volunteer activities, and cultural engagements. The specialist collaborates institution-wide to boost student satisfaction, cultivate an active campus culture, and create a strong sense of belonging among students.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish and manage student councils, clubs, and organizations to increase student leadership and participation.
  • Design and coordinate a variety of activities, workshops, and events that enhance campus life.
  • Maintain extensive collaborative relationships with students, academic staff, and personnel to support student engagement.
  • Analyze student engagement trends to advise on improvements for the student experience.
  • Conduct a thorough assessment of the student journey to identify and implement enhancements tailored to student needs.
  • Manage student inquiries and concerns through various communication channels, ensuring appropriate department referrals and follow-ups.
  • Develop impactful events to encourage high levels of student involvement and satisfaction.
  • Provide guidance to student leaders to empower their positive contributions to the campus community.
  • Prepare reports and data analyses for institutional efficiency, external audits, and accreditation purposes.
  • Evaluate feedback and engagement metrics to improve student affairs programming continuously.
  • Monitor club activities and promote the initiation of new student-led programs.
  • Promote student affairs initiatives effectively through collaboration with marketing and communications teams.
  • Maintain accurate records and communication databases related to student engagement efforts.
  • Carry out additional duties as assigned by the Manager of Student Affairs and perform responsibilities on either campus as needed.

Required Competencies and Skills

  • Proficiency in problem-solving, mediation, and conflict resolution.
  • Experience in data collection and outcome evaluation.
  • Capability to engage effectively with a diverse student body from various cultural backgrounds.
  • Highly organized with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong collaborative skills with a demonstrated ability to work well with colleagues.
  • Self-motivated and proactive in completing assigned tasks promptly.
  • Reliability, flexibility, and a people-oriented approach.
  • Expertise in event planning and management.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A minimum of three years’ experience in student affairs, student engagement, or youth development programs within higher education institutions.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Student Affairs, Education, Business Administration, Psychology, Human Resources, Communications, or related fields is required.
  • A Master’s degree is preferred but not mandatory.
