Strength and Conditioning Coach (Early Career)

About the role

The Queensland Government is looking for a motivated early-career Strength and Conditioning Coach to join the Queensland Academy of Sport team in South Brisbane. This position is designed for someone eager to grow their practice in a high-performance setting while supporting categorised athletes and helping run the Recovery Centre on a day-to-day basis.

The role combines direct athlete support with operational responsibility, requiring someone who is committed to continuous improvement, passionate about elite performance, and able to contribute in a professional, athlete-focused environment.

What you will do

• Provide strength and conditioning support that is grounded in evidence and aligned with each athlete’s Individual Athlete Performance Plan and the What It Takes to Win framework.
• Assist with performance testing, tracking, and monitoring for categorised athletes, and share timely feedback with coaches, athletes, and performance support staff.
• Manage athlete information and video records in the Athlete Management System and other approved tools, following Queensland Academy of Sport expectations.
• Build capability in using National Quality Assurance Standards for data collection, equipment care, athlete programming, monitoring, reporting, and data administration.
• Carry out administrative and operational duties that keep the Recovery Centre running effectively, including supervising athlete access to wet therapy areas and other facilities during allocated shifts.
• Apply and oversee wet therapy procedures and facility standards to maintain a clean, safe, functional, and welcoming environment, escalating concerns to the relevant staff when needed.
• Track facility use and athlete participation, keep accurate records, and report updates, incidents, and trends to appropriate Queensland Academy of Sport personnel.

Mandatory qualifications and requirements

• A tertiary qualification in sport and exercise science, or an accepted equivalent, is required as a minimum.
• ASCA Level 2 accreditation is required, or you must be able to obtain it before the contract begins.
• Completion of Sports Integrity Australia Antidoping Fundamentals and the annual update is required.
• Current First Aid and CPR certification is required.

Eligibility and other conditions
