About the Role

This opportunity is for a Strategy Consultant to join a strategic initiative with the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) on a 12-month freelance contract. The role sits within a government entity that supports the sustainable expansion of Abu Dhabi’s culture and tourism sectors and contributes to shaping the emirate as a leading destination for culture, creativity, and tourism.

The consultant will support the Gaming Strategy Team across strategic planning, performance management, governance, and initiative tracking. The position involves close collaboration with senior leaders and internal stakeholders to help manage planning cycles, prepare executive materials, monitor progress against strategic goals, and coordinate work across multiple streams.

Strategic Planning Support

  • Assist SMO leadership in organizing and preparing strategic planning activities.
  • Carry out research and analysis to help define strategic priorities and planning cycles.
  • Develop briefing notes, slide decks, and supporting background documents for senior stakeholders.
  • Help create and maintain strategy frameworks and planning templates.
  • Monitor progress against strategic goals and highlight possible delays or risks to the SMO Lead.
  • Gather and align inputs from internal teams to support cross-functional coordination.

Performance Management and Reporting

  • Contribute to the setup and delivery of performance management processes across the organization.
  • Collect, combine, and check performance information from departments and business units.
  • Build periodic reports and dashboards for leadership and governance groups.
  • Track KPIs and OKRs, and identify patterns, deviations, and areas needing action.
  • Support the preparation of materials for performance reviews and governance meetings.
  • Keep performance trackers, dashboards, and databases current and accurate.

Governance and Decision Support

  • Provide day-to-day support for governance structures and decision-making workflows.
  • Coordinate meeting agendas, minutes, and action logs for committees and leadership forums.
  • Prepare decision papers, issue trackers, and options analysis documents for senior stakeholders.
  • Follow up on decisions and action items across governance bodies.
  • Support the documentation and communication of governance frameworks, policies, and procedures.
  • Help implement governance enhancements as directed by the SMO Lead.

Initiative and Project Coordination

  • Coordinate and monitor strategic initiatives and projects across the organization.
  • Maintain trackers, project plans, and status updates for key initiatives.
  • Work with project owners and stakeholders to collect updates and address dependencies.
  • Prepare concise briefing packs and progress summaries for leadership.
  • Escalate risks, blockers, and resource gaps to the SMO Lead.
  • Support the creation of business cases and initiative charters where needed.

Requirements

  • 4 to 6 years of experience in top-tier management consulting or strategy consulting, ideally at Manager or Senior Consultant level.
  • Experience with MBB or a comparable top-tier strategy firm is mandatory.
  • Background in strategic planning, performance management, governance, or transformation programs.
  • Proven ability to create executive-level materials such as briefing packs, dashboards, and decision papers.
  • Strong analytical and reporting capabilities, including working confidently with KPI and performance data.
  • Experience managing stakeholders and tracking delivery across several workstreams.

Preferred Experience

  • Background in gaming or esports is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with AI tools and how they can support strategy, reporting, and operations is preferred.
  • GCC experience is preferred, ideally spanning 3 to 5 years.
  • A track record of 1 to 2 promotions within the same firm is preferred.

Contract Details

This is a 12-month freelance engagement based in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
