Role Overview

The Strategic Sourcing Manager in the Boughtouts sub-department within the Corporate Commercial Strategic Sourcing team will be based in Shirwal, Pune. Reporting to the Deputy General Manager of Strategic Sourcing, the manager will lead sourcing strategies, oversee cost reduction efforts, vendor management, and support digital and operational initiatives to optimize procurement activities for engineering and associated divisions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement sourcing strategies to reduce costs and enhance supply chain resilience.
  • Drive alternate source developments and incorporate new technology suppliers to mitigate risks.
  • Manage commercial settlements and negotiate rate contracts with synergy suppliers and high-value components.
  • Conduct comprehensive vendor assessments and expand the vendor base.
  • Lead digital transformation initiatives including sourcing analytics, supplier relationship management (SRM), online auctions, and outsourcing projects.
  • Promote vendor commonality across engineering companies to increase leverage and synergy benefits.
  • Perform spend analysis to identify cost reduction opportunities and evaluate current supplier capabilities versus business needs.
  • Ensure inventory optimization by monitoring and reducing free and non-moving stocks.
  • Lead cross-functional teams in various projects to drive procurement excellence and supplier development.

Technical and Functional Expertise

  • Thorough understanding of products related to bought-out parts such as HMI, PLC, servo motors, switch gears, drives, pneumatics, sensors, bearings, AHU, scrubbers, de-dusters, ADU, and motors.
  • Proficiency in SAP MM module to support procurement and inventory projects.
  • Experience in vendor audits, value engineering, and cost reduction for bought-out parts.
  • Knowledge of market suppliers, technologies, and competitive assessment for adopting new products.

Educational and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor of Engineering (BE) in Mechanical or Production engineering is mandatory.
  • A minimum of 12 years of relevant procurement or sourcing experience, with at least 5 years in strategic sourcing roles.
  • Prior work experience in a machine manufacturing company is essential.
  • Experience working directly with OEMs, manufacturers, and supplier evaluation in a similar industrial environment.

Additional Information

  • Hands-on experience handling bought-out parts like HMI, IPC, PLC, servos, VFDs, pneumatics, sensors, AHUs, and motors.
  • Proven track record in leading cross-functional teams for project execution and sourcing initiatives.
  • Deep market knowledge and contacts related to machinery component suppliers.
