Role Overview
This Strategic Finance role is central to strengthening Kalshi’s financial infrastructure. The candidate will be responsible for overseeing Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) forecasting and managing operating expenses, collaborating closely across departments to translate complex datasets into strategic insights that guide leadership decisions for this groundbreaking regulated event-trading exchange.
Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end COGS forecasting and financial modeling.
- Support financial analyses related to market data, infrastructure, and key vendor agreements.
- Assist commercial and vendor negotiations by providing rigorous financial support to improve deal speed and accuracy.
- Develop and maintain operating expense forecasts for all non-marketing functions.
- Coordinate with Accounting to create and sustain scalable cost centers and reporting structures.
- Administer monthly budget-to-actual comparisons and variance analyses.
- Lead the annual budgeting cycle for COGS and operating expenses.
- Enhance visibility on costs, unit economics, and gross margin analytics.
- Serve as the primary finance partner for all operating departments outside Marketing.
- Create scalable planning and reporting systems to support product launches and global expansion.
- Drive continuous improvements in operating models, automation, and finance infrastructure.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- 3 to 6 years of experience in Financial Planning & Analysis or Strategic Finance.
- Proven skills in budgeting, forecasting, and cost center management.
- Experience developing and maintaining comprehensive operating models.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and financial modeling; knowledge of SQL or BI tools is advantageous.
- Strong experience collaborating cross-functionally with Accounting and operational teams.
- Adaptability to work effectively amidst ambiguity and with limited prior data or procedures.
- Preferred background in investment banking, management consulting, or private equity.
- Effective communication skills to liaise across technical, operational, and executive stakeholders.
- A self-driven mindset with curiosity and a systematic approach to creating functional solutions.
- A strong sense of ownership and accountability.
- Ability to excel in a fast-changing startup setting without extensive structure.
Compensation
The annual salary range is $140,000 to $220,000, complemented by equity and benefits. The company maintains a flat hierarchy with a wide spectrum of experience within titles and encourages open discussion if compensation expectations differ.
