Role Overview

The Strategic Business Unit (SBU) Head for Oil & Gas is responsible for spearheading and scaling the client’s operations in designated markets including Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. With comprehensive accountability for strategy, operational performance, and profitability, this leadership role focuses on driving sustainable growth by enhancing the market position in upstream, midstream, and downstream sectors of the oil and gas industry. The SBU Head ensures a dependable and cost-efficient supply of industrial and specialty gases while managing business profitability with full P&L ownership and overseeing cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the business strategy related to Oil & Gas aligned with the company’s overarching objectives.
  • Explore growth prospects in upstream, midstream, downstream, and emerging energy transition fields such as hydrogen and carbon capture and storage (CCS).
  • Lead the creation and execution of annual operational plans, budgeting, and long-range strategic initiatives.
  • Align activities across commercial, operations, engineering, and supply chain departments.
  • Create commercial strategies, pricing models, and distinct value propositions for Oil & Gas clientele.
  • Grow market penetration within national oil companies, international oil companies, EPC contractors, and related service firms.
  • Manage major tender processes, negotiate long-term supply contracts, and oversee project-specific agreements.
  • Maintain executive-level relationships throughout the Oil & Gas value chain.
  • Accountable for achieving targeted revenue, profit margins, and cost controls for the Oil & Gas SBU.
  • Enhance margins through disciplined pricing, contract refinement, and portfolio oversight.
  • Track financial metrics and KPIs, applying corrective measures as necessary.
  • Ensure optimal utilization of assets including bulk facilities, pipelines, cylinders, and onsite plants.
  • Guarantee consistent and uninterrupted gas supply to critical Oil & Gas operations.
  • Supervise operational performance spanning production facilities, onsite installations, and logistics.
  • Strengthen supplier relationships and sourcing strategies to safeguard long-term supply reliability.
  • Champion cost control, service reliability, and operational efficiency across the supply chain.
  • Support execution of large-scale EPC-driven gas supply and onsite projects.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams on system design, commissioning, and process optimization.
  • Ensure adherence to technical specifications and industry regulations.
  • Lead and nurture a high-performing multi-country team in commercial and operational roles.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, high-performance, and ongoing improvement.
  • Serve as executive sponsor for critical strategic customers and partnerships.
  • Ensure compliance with Oil & Gas industry standards and regulatory mandates.
  • Advocate a robust Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (HSSE) culture across operations and client sites.
  • Oversee audits, certification processes, and risk management initiatives.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or a related discipline.
  • Between 12 and 15 years of professional experience in the Oil & Gas or industrial gases sectors.
  • Extensive experience managing sizable commercial portfolios.
  • Demonstrated successful collaboration with national oil companies (NOCs), EPC contractors, and managing large-scale contracts.
  • Preferably experienced within GCC and MENA regional markets.
  • Proven expertise in business development and direction of portfolios spanning multiple countries.
  • Strong commercial acumen and P&L management capabilities.
  • Excellent English communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.

Additional Information
