About the Role

The City of Medicine Hat is looking to hire a Storekeeper 2 for a permanent full-time position on site. Starting at an hourly wage of $35.22, this role is ideal for experienced warehouse and inventory professionals who value accuracy, excellent customer service, and smooth operational flow. Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure timely provision of inventory, materials, and supplies to various city departments to aid effective service delivery.
  • Maintain precise inventory records that guide purchasing decisions and facilitate efficient warehouse management.
  • Perform cycle counts, supervise stock levels, and engage in inventory monitoring to uphold inventory accuracy.
  • Balance stock availability to support cost-effective operations while reducing shortages and excessive inventory.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with suppliers and internal clients to guarantee prompt and effective service.
  • Ensure the warehouse environment is safe, organized, and efficient to promote operational excellence.
  • Inspect incoming goods to confirm they meet quality, quantity, and purchase specifications before entering inventory.
  • Use the City's ERP system accurately to sustain integrity in purchasing, inventory, and warehouse records.
  • Operate warehouse equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks as part of daily duties.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Completion of a recognized Warehouse Certificate or Parts Technician Certificate from a post-secondary institution.
  • At least three years of progressively responsible experience in stores or warehouse operations.
  • Familiarity with inventory control and ERP systems, along with competence in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Knowledge of inventory management principles, purchasing procedures, and warehouse processes.
  • Understanding of WHMIS and Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) regulations.
  • Possession of a valid Class 5 Alberta Driver's License with a clean driving record.
  • Experience with warehouse equipment operation (forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks) is advantageous.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
