Role summary
The Store Manager in Training (SMIT) position is a development-oriented role intended to prepare you for a future CVS Store Manager opportunity. The program is structured to build leadership capability through a 16-week self-paced and collaborative training journey that combines virtual learning with practical, hands-on experience.
You will be supported by a District Leader, Human Resources Business Partner, Training Store Manager, and Store Manager coach as you grow toward a store leadership path.
Responsibilities
- Communicate clearly in both spoken and written form to guide and support the team.
- Deliver customer care and service that meets a high standard.
- Carry out merchandising plans that help drive store sales.
- Oversee inventory and store assets in a way that protects profitability.
- Take part in key learning experiences throughout the structured training program.
- Support the store as a member of the management team in line with CVS values and policies.
- Motivate colleagues in support of the company’s mission to help people improve their health.
- Remain open to advancement into a Store Manager role within the market.
Requirements
- Must be willing to accept a Store Manager promotion at any location within the designated market.
- Must be able to transfer among CVS Pharmacy stores within the assigned market.
- Must be available to work a schedule that changes based on business needs.
- High school diploma or GED is required.
- Bachelor’s degree is listed as a requirement in the posting.
- Retail management experience, or prior experience as a CVS Supervisor, is needed.
- Selection for the SMIT role does not guarantee promotion to Store Manager; advancement depends on factors such as performance and the availability of openings.
Preferred education
A four-year college degree is preferred. Relevant work experience may be considered instead of a college degree.
Working hours
The anticipated weekly schedule is 45 hours.
Compensation
The typical pay range for this role is $18.50 to $23.88 per hour. The actual offer may vary depending on experience, education, geography, and other relevant factors.
