Job description
Overview
Join B&Q as a Store Delivery Driver based in Southend, Scotland, working on a permanent contract basis with full-time hours (36.75 hours per week). The role involves working shifts from Monday to Sunday, between 5:00 am and 10:00 pm. The hourly pay rate is £13.85 (UK notional rate). Due to the physical nature of the role, expect to perform heavy lifting regularly.
Role Summary
You will be responsible for delivering a range of products from 300+ B&Q stores directly to customers’ homes using 3.5-ton vans. Deliveries can vary from small items like paint tins to bulky packages such as multiple packs of flooring. Apart from making multiple drop deliveries, you will support warehouse activities on the shop floor using new technology to process customer orders and assist colleagues as necessary. Maintaining efficiency, safety, and excellent customer service will be critical in representing the B&Q brand positively at all times.
Candidate Profile
The ideal applicant is an effective communicator who can stay organised and think analytically even under pressure. You should be comfortable managing your workload logically and efficiently. A valid manual UK driving license (Category B/B1) held for a minimum of one year without more than six penalty points is required. While prior multi-drop delivery experience is advantageous, it is not mandatory. Flexibility to work various shifts including weekends, evenings, and bank holidays on a rotating schedule is essential.
Additional Checks
Successful candidates will undergo background checks through Experian and DVLA to verify provided information, along with a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Any inconsistencies will be discussed directly.
Benefits and Inclusion
B&Q is committed to diversity and inclusion, fostering a workplace where everyone feels valued and has equal opportunity. Benefits include a competitive wage, an award-winning pension scheme, employee share options, 6.6 weeks of holiday annually, payroll giving, an Employee Assistance Programme, shopping discounts, wellness initiatives, and generous breaks to maintain performance. Support is available throughout recruitment for those requesting reasonable adjustments, including disability confident scheme consideration.
