STEM Research Expert

Role Overview

This is a flexible remote contract role focused on supporting advanced large language model development. The work centers on bringing specialist STEM knowledge into training and evaluation projects for frontier research teams.

What You Will Do

You will help design difficult technical and research-oriented prompts and problems that can be used in model training workflows. The role spans multiple fields, including healthcare, statistics, data science, machine learning research, computer science, game development, and mechanical or aerospace engineering.

You will also contribute to projects that improve model reasoning, technical depth, and domain-specific performance. The engagement is independent, project-based, and intended to offer flexibility in scheduling.

Requirements

Candidates should have advanced academic training or comparable industry experience in a STEM field. Strong analytical ability, a high level of technical accuracy, and close attention to detail are important for success in this role.

You should be able to explain complex ideas clearly in both written and verbal form, work independently in a fast-moving remote research setting, and follow structured evaluation guidelines closely.

Compensation and Engagement

This is a paid hourly contract role with compensation in the range of $55 to $80 per hour. Payments are made weekly through Stripe or Wise. The hiring process includes a paid onboarding stage that covers an interview task and onboarding sessions.
