Role Overview
AMD is looking for an experienced Physical Design leader with deep knowledge of microprocessor design and implementation techniques. The position focuses on balancing power, performance, and area goals while supporting the creation of new designs for AMD. It is a senior-level opportunity that involves guiding the physical design team and influencing technical direction.
What You Will Do
- Act as the main technical point of contact for the assigned focus area.
- Collaborate proactively with peers during technology and design reviews.
- Assess and communicate the effect of technology issues in design reviews.
- Represent CPU Cores in technical discussions with executive leadership.
- Partner across the CPU Cores organization to identify, analyze, and solve complex technical risks and issues.
- Work with design teams to refine area, floorplan, timing, and power targets.
What AMD Is Looking For
- Strong communication and presentation skills, supported by technical publications, talks, trainings, or executive briefings.
- Proven ability to collaborate with highly technical teams and mentor others.
- Experience guiding teams of senior engineers.
Preferred Background
- Prior experience leading technical teams.
- Hands-on exposure to high-speed microprocessor design.
- Ability to develop new design concepts and flows.
- Understanding of current sub-micron technologies.
- Good working knowledge of physical design tools and flows, or custom circuit design.
Education and Experience
A degree in Electrical Engineering with more than 5 years of relevant experience is preferred.
