Role Overview

AMD’s Human Resources organization is hiring an Employee Relations Manager to lead sensitive employee matters across multiple countries. The position calls for someone who can manage complex investigations, advise leaders on employee relations issues, interpret local employment laws, and strengthen HR processes and workflows. The role supports a workplace that is fair, compliant, diverse, and inclusive while helping improve organizational culture and efficiency.

What You Will Do

You will handle employee relations cases with a high level of discretion, neutrality, and professionalism. The role covers investigations and advisory support across Southeast Asia, including Singapore, Malaysia, Australia, and Japan. You will work with stakeholders across HR, Legal, HR Operations, Talent Acquisition, Total Rewards, Government Relations, and business teams to resolve issues, reduce risk, and improve the employee experience.

Working Style and Profile

AMD is seeking a person who is emotionally intelligent, analytical, highly communicative, and able to balance technical depth with strategic judgment. The ideal candidate will be comfortable in a fast-moving, matrixed environment and able to work independently while collaborating widely across regions and functions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Independently manage complex employee relations investigations while maintaining strict confidentiality, fairness, neutrality, and established investigative standards.
  • Investigate allegations involving discrimination, harassment, retaliation, bullying, misconduct, bias, and other inappropriate conduct across Southeast Asia, Australia, and Japan.
  • Assess the seriousness and reach of reported or confirmed behavior, then carry cases through to closure with clear documentation and follow-up.
  • Partner with legal counsel when needed and keep accurate case files and records.
  • Resolve employee relations issues in a way that lowers business risk and supports a better employee experience.
  • Work closely with HR, Legal, HR Ops, TA, TR, Government Relations, and business partners to address employee concerns and difficult situations.
  • Advise APJ leadership on local labor laws, compliance updates, and employee relations strategy.
  • Support conflict resolution, coaching for leaders, and difficult employee conversations.
  • Assist the Corporate Investigations team with local employee investigations as required.
  • Help manage corrective actions such as warnings and performance improvement plans.
  • Review and refine policies, ensuring they stay aligned with legal requirements and business risks.
  • Lead the rollout of new employee relations practices and improve existing processes.
  • Support labor compliance activities, audits, and state law requirements.
  • Identify process gaps, propose improvements, and implement practical, innovative solutions.
  • Create metrics, use analytics to monitor program progress, and prepare leadership review materials.
  • Build and maintain an online knowledge repository with updates and best practices.
  • Support improvements across the HR lifecycle to enhance employee experience.
  • Help design and deliver management training that strengthens people managers’ employee relations capabilities.
  • Contribute to ad hoc employee relations and HR projects.
  • Recommend policy, process, and engagement improvements based on trends and risk patterns.

Preferred Experience

  • Hands-on employee relations experience with a strong background in investigations and advisory work across Southeast Asia.
  • Solid knowledge of labor laws and compliance requirements across Southeast Asian countries, Australia, and Japan.
  • Strong report writing, case documentation, executive presentation, and stakeholder relationship skills.
  • Ability to handle ambiguity, adapt quickly, and work with a practical, hands-on mindset.
  • Strong problem-solving ability and root-cause analysis skills, paired with a growth mindset.
  • Comfort taking full ownership of projects and decisions.
  • Experience working collaboratively in a global, high-growth, fast-paced matrix organization.
  • Professional presence, confidence, and clear communication.
  • Ability to work effectively with different personality types and across all levels of the organization.
  • High standards of ethics and integrity, with the ability to handle confidential information carefully.
  • Strong judgment in resolving sensitive employee matters and broader compliance concerns.
  • Commitment to acting as a culture champion and reinforcing company values.

Academic Credentials

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related specialization.
  • Employment law qualification is considered an advantage.
  • Training or certification in Employment Acts, Industrial Relations, Counselling, or Coaching is desirable.

Location
