Position Overview
We are seeking a passionate and motivated Staff Nurse to join our Children's Disability Residential Service located in Wicklow Town, County Wicklow. The role involves providing person-centered care to residents with Intellectual Disabilities, Acquired Brain Injury, and Autism, ensuring their dignity, privacy, and respect at all times. The position is a full-time onsite role with work hours comprising seven 12-hour shifts over a two-week period.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist residents in identifying and working towards their personal objectives following a person-centered approach.
- Support residents in achieving educational qualifications like FETAC relevant to their capabilities.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, day service personnel, families, and other stakeholders to facilitate residents' goal achievement via individual care plans.
- Conduct regular and systematic assessments of residents using appropriate models.
- Monitor health status of service users and address medical concerns by reporting to the Unit Manager, liaising with general practitioners, or accompanying residents to appointments as needed.
- Administer and manage medication according to An Bord Altranais guidelines and internal policies, including facilitating resident medication management where appropriate.
- Perform all clinical duties within the nursing practice scope.
Candidate Requirements
- Registration or eligibility for registration with the Intellectual Disability or Mental Health Division of the Live Register of Nurses maintained by An Bord Altranais (INMB).
- Experience working in residential, respite, or day service settings serving individuals with intellectual disabilities.
- Understanding of Person Centred Planning principles.
- Familiarity with clinical and human resources policies, procedures, and related legislation.
- Knowledge of National Disability Standards, including HIQA regulations.

- Hourly salary ranging from €21.65 to €25.65, with an additional €1.50 per hour on Sundays.
