Staff Nurse - Pediatric Clinic

Overview

This role involves delivering comprehensive nursing care specifically tailored to pediatric patients, supporting various medical procedures, assessments, and testing aimed at infants, toddlers, and children. The nurse will work closely with the multidisciplinary healthcare team to ensure patient-centered, age-appropriate clinical care within a pediatric clinic setting in Dubai.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care customized to the developmental stage and individual needs of pediatric patients using appropriate assessment techniques.
• Conduct detailed physical assessments and health history interviews for children and their families.
• Support and assist in specialized procedures including aerosol treatments, Bili Check tests, circumcisions, enteral feeding tube insertions, and administration of HbA1c testing.
• Perform point-of-care testing such as influenza and rapid strep tests within ambulatory contexts.
• Aid in vaccine administration, visual screening, nasopharyngeal specimen collection, blood culture sampling, oral care for infants and toddlers, and oral drug delivery for infants.
• Execute or assist with oro-nasopharyngeal suctioning and throat swab collections to aid clinical diagnostics.
• Provide ongoing critical care assessment of patient and family needs, revising care plans and coordinating transfers as necessary.
• Collaborate extensively with interdisciplinary teams to plan and prioritize patient care effectively.
• Maintain accurate and thorough documentation in compliance with hospital standards.
• Ensure availability and maintenance of necessary medical supplies and equipment within the pediatric unit.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (minimum three years full-time) or a Nursing degree (minimum two years) with registration as a nurse in Canada, USA, UK, Ireland, South Africa, New Zealand or Australia.
• UAE nationals with nursing degrees from UAE or international institutions are exempt from experience and clinical training requirements but must submit required documentation.
• Non-UAE nationals who graduate from UAE universities must complete six months of clinical training post-graduation in an Accredited Health Facility, except for registered and assistant nurses.
• Valid nursing license/registration for home country or country of last employment where applicable.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification is mandatory.
• Disease-specific certification or other certifications in line with scope of practice may be required.

Professional Experience

• At least two years of recent clinical experience in pediatric nursing care.
• Thorough understanding of delivering age-appropriate care addressing both physical and psychological patient needs.
• Proficient in care coordination, prioritization, and critical assessment skills in pediatric settings.
