Job description
About the Role
NHS Scotland is dedicated to fostering equality and diversity, ensuring a respectful and inclusive environment for all employees. We seek applications from all societal backgrounds to form a workforce that represents the community we serve.
We have an opening for an enthusiastic and motivated Paediatric Nurse to join the Paediatric Day Case Unit at the Highland Children’s Unit in Raigmore Hospital. This is a fixed term or secondment contract through April 2027.
Unit Overview
The Paediatric Day Case Unit is a six-bed facility catering to children from birth up to 16 years old who require day-case surgery or medical procedures. The unit supports various surgical specialties including general paediatric surgery, urology, ENT, orthopaedics, dental, and plastic surgery. It operates weekdays from 07:00 to 18:00.
Beyond surgical care, the team also provides outpatient clinics such as phlebotomy, pre-assessment, and allergy skin prick testing.
Key Responsibilities
As a Paediatric Nurse, you will be part of a multidisciplinary team delivering family-centred, high-quality care throughout the child’s day-case experience. This includes patient assessment, preparation for treatments and surgeries, post-procedure recovery, and offering supportive information to children and their families.
Qualifications and Requirements
Candidates must hold a Degree or Diploma in Children’s Nursing and possess active registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) in the Children’s Nursing field. Part-time applicants will be considered.
Additional Information
