Job description
Role overview
An opportunity has opened for a qualified registered nurse to join the busy and growing Glenfield Outpatients team at University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust. The department supports a broad mix of specialties, including Respiratory, Cardiology, Vascular, Oncology, Breast Care, Orthopaedics and NCSEM at Loughborough University.
The outpatients service offers a welcoming, progressive environment in pleasant surroundings, with a strong focus on improving patient care while working closely with the multidisciplinary teams that rely on the service.
What the role involves
You will provide compassionate, motivated and high-quality nursing care while helping to build a supportive, patient-centred culture. The role calls for confident engagement with patients, colleagues and service users, along with a professional approach that reflects accountability, inclusiveness and a willingness to go the extra mile when needed.
You will be expected to help drive continuous improvement and keep patient wellbeing at the centre of everything you do. The post also offers a supportive setting with good working conditions and encouragement for ongoing professional development.
Clinical duties
The post holder will assess, plan, implement and evaluate evidence-based nursing care for a group of patients. You will also play an active part in maintaining high standards of nursing quality and act as a positive clinical and professional example for students and learners on placement in the clinical area.
Working arrangements and physical demands
This position may require frequent walking and long periods of standing. The successful candidate must be able to use manual handling equipment such as hoists, trolleys and wheelchairs.
You may also be asked to work at other Trust locations in addition to your main base. Flexibility is required across four sites: Leicester Royal Infirmary, Glenfield Hospital, Loughborough NCSEM and Leicester General Hospital. If your starting site is one of these, excess travel reimbursement will not apply for a permanent or temporary change of base.
Trust strategy and values
The Trust’s 2023–2030 strategy is built around four main goals: delivering high-quality care for all, being a great place to work, creating partnerships that make a difference, and achieving excellence in research and education. The organisation also aims to embed health equality in all its work by reducing avoidable healthcare differences through partnership with communities.
The values guiding this work are compassion, pride, inclusivity and teamwork.
