Job description
Role overview
Leicester Royal Infirmary is seeking a Biomedical Assistant to join its Microbiology team. The position offers a varied workload, strong development potential, and a good fit for someone who wants to build experience in microbiology laboratory work.
The successful candidate will need to communicate clearly, work carefully and consistently, and follow written procedures with accuracy.
Main duties
- Carry out routine laboratory analytical tests and techniques in line with departmental standard operating procedures.
- Show a basic grasp of which tests are used and the reasons they are required.
- Support laboratory quality assurance processes, including the upkeep, calibration, and use of laboratory equipment and instruments.
- Help coordinate and train MLA/BMA staff where needed.
- Demonstrate laboratory methods to colleagues as part of the directorate training programme.
