Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Band 5 Registered Nurse on a part-time basis (21.6 hours per week) to join the Ophthalmology Outpatients team at the National Treatment Centre-Highland, Inverness. This role involves providing high-quality nursing care and ensuring a positive patient experience within eye healthcare services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Utilize excellent organizational skills and exercise independent judgment in daily tasks.
  • Demonstrate adaptability within the clinical setting while collaborating effectively with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Develop specialized competencies in ophthalmology, including managing pre-assessment clinics, performing fundus fluorescein angiograms, and operating optical testing devices.
  • Ensure that patients complete all required diagnostic tests before consulting with clinicians.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse (Adult) with current Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) registration.
  • Prior ophthalmology experience is advantageous but not mandatory since comprehensive training will be provided.

Working Hours

The department operates Monday to Friday, from 08:00 to 18:00. The role includes occasional weekend and public holiday shifts to cover casualty clinics, generally one to two weekends per month.
