Job description
Role Overview
This is a senior individual contributor position for a brand designer in Canada. You will own the visual identity of a widely recognized developer-oriented company across marketing, web, product-adjacent experiences, events, and physical assets. The role combines strategic brand leadership with hands-on design delivery, with a strong emphasis on systems thinking, consistency, and high-quality execution at scale.
As the senior design partner within Marketing, you will help guide key brand decisions while also contributing directly to major initiatives such as the company website and marketing design system. A significant part of the work involves shaping how AI-supported creative processes are used to improve speed and output quality without losing craft. This role is suited to someone who excels in fast-paced, technically complex environments and can establish a standard of work others can follow.
Core Accountabilities
- Maintain and advance the brand’s visual language so it stays consistent across marketing, product-adjacent, and external-facing experiences, while evolving it as needs and performance change.
- Take ownership of the company website’s design direction, including information structure, layout logic, interaction patterns, and responsive implementation.
- Build and steward the marketing design system in Figma, including reusable components, visual patterns, and tokens used across teams.
- Adapt the brand for product and AI-related experiences through illustration, motion, and storytelling frameworks.
- Uphold a high design standard across marketing output by reviewing work, giving feedback, and mentoring designers and contractors.
- Work with marketing leadership to turn strategy into a coherent brand direction, campaign visuals, and positioning.
- Create design for physical and experiential formats such as events, trade shows, print, and merchandise to preserve brand consistency across touchpoints.
- Design and roll out AI-assisted creative workflows, including asset-generation systems, prompt libraries, and scalable production pipelines.
Requirements
- At least 8 years of experience in brand, visual, and web design, preferably at staff or principal level in SaaS or developer-focused products.
- A portfolio that shows end-to-end brand systems, web design at scale, illustration, and motion capabilities.
- Direct experience owning or materially contributing to Figma-based design systems across large, distributed teams.
- Strong grounding in UX and UI, with practical experience delivering responsive web experiences in production.
- Ability to turn broad brand strategy into visual systems and explain design choices to executive stakeholders.
- Experience working with agencies, contractors, or external creative partners while preserving creative direction and quality.
- Working fluency with generative AI tools in real production settings, including image, video, and creative automation use cases.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional partners.
- Interest in developer tools, technical ecosystems, or AI-driven products is considered a strong advantage.
Benefits
- Competitive pay benchmarked to US and Canada market ranges, plus equity participation.
- Remote-first setup with flexibility to work from anywhere in supported regions.
- Substantial paid time off, including planned wellness breaks during the year.
- Medical, dental, and vision coverage, depending on country.
- Parental leave support for all parents.
- Support for home office setup and a monthly technology allowance.
- Learning and development budget for courses, conferences, and training.
- Retirement and savings options based on location.
- Equity participation and ownership opportunities.
- Wellness, mental health, and lifestyle support benefits.
- Company events, retreats, and creative offsites.
