Job description

About NatureServe

NatureServe has spent five decades serving as a trusted authority on biodiversity information across North America. Through a broad network of more than 60 Natural Heritage Programs and Conservation Data Centers in the United States and Canada, it stands as a major source of data on rare and endangered species, as well as the ecosystems they rely on. By working with over 1,000 conservation scientists, the organization gathers, standardizes, and shares biodiversity statistics that support informed conservation action. Together with its network partners, NatureServe maintains one of the most extensive datasets covering more than 100,000 species and ecosystems, helping answer where biodiversity is located, what is most critical, and how it is changing.

About the Role

The Staff Accountant will be responsible for the organization’s core accounting activities and for ensuring financial records remain accurate and up to date. This position independently handles general ledger work, accounts payable, payroll processing, bank and cash administration, reconciliations, month-end close tasks, and support for financial reporting. • Provide backup and junior accounting support to help ensure full departmental coverage.
