  • Review program data to assess insider-threat risk to infrastructure, programs, and business operations.
  • Examine anomalous activity that may point to data exfiltration, data destruction, or other warning signs.
  • Partner on internal investigations with teams such as Information Security, HR, Legal, Government Security, Physical Security, and relevant external contacts.
  • Use monitoring and analytics tools such as DLP, SIEM, and UEBA to detect unusual activity, open investigations, and identify underlying trends.
  • Organize insider-threat data into metrics, reports, and case studies aligned to mission needs and timelines.
  • Present findings clearly and promptly to teammates, leadership, and other stakeholders.
  • Help deliver employee training and briefing sessions for both internal and external audiences.
  • Coordinate with industry and government partners to benchmark insider-threat programs, exchange threat intelligence, and support investigations.
  • Contribute ideas and actions that improve the program over time.
  • Handle sensitive records carefully, including case files, employee personal information, and intelligence reports.

Experience and qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree plus at least 5 years of professional experience in internal investigations, information security, or IT; or 9+ years of professional experience in internal investigations, information security, counterintelligence, or IT if no degree is held.
  • At least 4 years of experience using SIEM tools such as Splunk, Panther, or Exabeam, and/or performing digital forensic investigations in a government or corporate environment.
  • Practical understanding of insider-threat programs, the stakeholders involved, and how insider risks typically show up.
  • Experience with Microsoft Purview for eDiscovery.
  • Knowledge of continuous assessment concepts and tuning detections for insider-risk use cases.
  • Background in early-case assessment, scoping, investigation planning, evidence handling, interviews, and reporting to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to conduct interviews on short notice while following internal guidelines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to prepare concise, clear reports.
  • Excellent organization and attention to detail.
  • Comfort working through changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Ability to quickly adapt to unfamiliar technical environments and workflows.
  • High level of judgment, discretion, and confidentiality when dealing with sensitive work.

Additional requirements

  • Must be available for extended hours and weekend work when critical operations require it.
  • Must be willing to travel occasionally as needed.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance is required, or the ability to obtain one.
  • Candidates with an active clearance will be subject to pre-employment screening, including a background check and drug/alcohol test, and may also be subject to random drug and alcohol testing during employment.

Compensation and benefits

The posted pay range for this role is $120,000 to $160,000 per year. Final pay will depend on the selected candidate’s job-related knowledge, skills, education, and experience.
