Overview
This position supports the preparation of the Group’s UAE Corporate Tax calculations and analyses in compliance with UAE Tax regulations. The role involves collaboration with various internal teams and external parties to ensure accurate tax reporting and adherence to regulatory requirements.
Key Duties
- Assist the AVP in preparing detailed corporation tax schedules and analyses as instructed.
- Coordinate with the financial reporting team to reconcile Oracle / SumX balances.
- Manage tax information submission through the AmaraTax portal.
- Ensure comprehensive tax documentation is maintained to satisfy tax authority audits.
- Respond promptly to inquiries from the Tax Regulator and UAE Ministry of Finance.
- Support the Group Head of Tax and team with ongoing corporate tax matters.
- Provide backup support within the Tax team during absences or high workload periods.
Responsibilities
- Communicate effectively with multiple stakeholders across the bank.
- Work efficiently under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Liaise with external consultants as required.
- Address UAE Federal Tax Authority requests in a timely manner.
- Demonstrate persistence and commitment to completing assigned tasks.
- Exhibit strong interpersonal skills.
Specific Responsibilities
- Monitor adherence to the bank’s UAE Direct Tax policy.
- Identify and document tax discrepancies and contribute to the risk register.
- Contribute to the development and update of tax policies across business lines.
- Ensure ongoing compliance with UAE tax legislation.
- Maintain appropriate tax documentation to support reported tax positions.
- Assist in resolving regulatory audits and inquiries related to tax matters.
- Support resolution of current and historical General Internal Audit points on tax.
- Participate in new product reviews and approval processes as needed.
- Stay informed about relevant tax technical updates and developments.
- Provide tax analysis support to Finance and Business units when required.
- Maintain systematic and accessible records for potential future tax authority assessments.
- Document all ongoing tax issues for review by the Group Head of Tax.
- Engage in ad-hoc projects as necessary.
Qualifications and Skills
- Relevant academic credentials in Accounting or Taxation (preferably ACCA, AAT, UAE CIT).
- At least a first-degree qualification.
- Experience in general financial accounting.
- Preferably some practical experience with corporate tax.
- Banking sector experience is advantageous.
- Exposure to working in foreign countries is preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Attention to detail with a quick learning aptitude.
- Self-motivated and able to use initiative effectively.
- Capability to document issues accurately.
- Comfortable working under pressure and meeting tight deadlines.
- Experience managing project-oriented tasks in less structured environments.
