Job description

Role Overview

This leadership position directs all middle office operations for the Global Markets (GM) segment, serving as the critical liaison between front office trading desks and back office operations. The role ensures flawless handling of trade transactions across asset classes such as equities, fixed income, foreign exchange, and derivatives. Responsibilities encompass timely trade booking, confirmation, settlement, and stringent control measures to maintain high operational standards and compliance.

Primary Duties

  • Manage the full trade lifecycle for all Global Markets products, ensuring accurate booking, validation, timely confirmations, settlement, and reconciliation while swiftly resolving any trade discrepancies to prevent financial impacts.
  • Design and uphold a robust risk management and control framework aimed at reducing errors, failed trades, and operational losses, including monitoring trade exceptions and data integrity, and continuously refining controls based on market and regulatory changes.
  • Lead and develop a global middle office team responsible for diverse functions such as trade support and collateral operations, including managing staff performance, mentoring, resource planning, and succession strategies to support evolving business requirements.
  • Maintain effective collaboration with internal stakeholders including front office trading heads, risk and compliance departments, and operations units, as well as external parties like clients, prime brokers, custodians, and clearinghouses to enhance service quality and resolve operational issues.
  • Oversee four critical areas within GM Middle Office: client onboarding and data readiness in coordination with internal counterparts; trade execution activities including booking and portfolio allocations with strict control governance; exception and reconciliation management covering failed or alleged trades, life cycle events, collateral, and margin; and regulatory plus internal reporting providing key risk and performance metrics.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, economics, or a related discipline is expected.
  • Minimum 10 to 15 years of extensive experience in Global Markets operations or front office trade support, including prior leadership roles managing sizable teams and complex workflows.
  • Broad knowledge across multiple asset classes—equities, fixed income, FX, derivatives—and comprehensive expertise in the full trade lifecycle.
  • Demonstrated capability bridging front-office and back-office functions effectively, underlining versatility and cross-functional understanding.
