The company emphasizes community impact, inclusive culture, and employee participation in service initiatives. It aims to build a workforce that reflects the audiences and communities it serves.
Role Overview
The Social Media Specialist for Universal Studios Hollywood will help deliver and activate the broader social content strategy across multiple platforms. The role combines publishing, community interaction, and real-time content development to keep the brand present, relevant, and engaging. It requires someone who is inventive, highly social-media fluent, and able to manage several channels at once.
You will work closely with the social media team and partner with other departments such as PR and Guest Relations to support community management efforts that promote Universal Studios Hollywood, Halloween Horror Nights, and Universal Fan Fest Nights.
What You Will Do
- Take full ownership of the brand’s social presence and represent the company publicly across its owned channels.
- Support the planning, scheduling, publishing, tagging, and maintenance of the editorial calendar for social content.
- Strengthen community engagement by creating timely, interactive ways to connect with audiences.
- Track emerging platforms and communication trends, then turn those observations into new social ideas and initiatives.
- Develop fresh storytelling approaches that expand audience reach through social and digital content.
- Prepare recurring reporting on audience sentiment, content performance, and community management results, including growth across brand pages and related channels.
- Apply strong social publishing standards and engagement benchmarks across all channels.
- Build productive relationships with internal stakeholders and intellectual property partners to support cross-promotional efforts.
- Own content creation end to end, including ideation, filming, editing, routing, and posting photos and videos.
- Stay current on social trends so the brands remain part of timely and relevant conversations.
- Handle other assigned duties as needed.
What We’re Looking For
- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university is required; marketing, business administration, English, or communications are preferred fields.
- At least 3 years of experience in marketing or social media.
- Strong working knowledge of MS Office tools, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams, plus Google Workspace.
- Comfort with basic photo and video editing, including making adjustments, creating assets, and sharing content.
- Preferred background in shooting and editing video.
- Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite tools such as Photoshop, Premiere, and After Effects.
- Experience using native social platforms and third-party tools such as Omniture and Sprinklr.
- Availability to attend on-site events and content shoots, which may take place early in the morning, in the evening, or on weekends.
- This role follows a hybrid work arrangement, with at least four days per week in the office.
Preferred Traits
- Solid understanding of community management, marketing strategy, social media, creative thinking, and analytics.
- A social-first, creative approach with the ability to write and edit in a distinctive, irreverent brand voice.
- Genuine enthusiasm for social media, online communities, and digital content.
- Interest in theme parks and entertainment.
- Strong judgment, collaborative soft skills, and the ability to communicate directly and professionally with guests and internal teams.
- Excellent writing skills and strong attention to detail.
- Comfort with technology and a strong interest in digital tools and applications.
- An innovative mindset that seeks new opportunities and can uncover or build stories.
- Experience leading high-profile projects involving multiple teams, milestones, and collaboration.
- Strong time management, multitasking, and problem-solving abilities, especially in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
Compensation and Benefits
The role includes company-sponsored benefits such as medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and various discounts and perks. The salary range for this position is $68,640 to $75,000 per year.
