About the organisation
Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is responsible for the day-to-day operation of Aotearoa New Zealand’s health system, with services delivered through local, district, regional, and national structures. In Waitaha Canterbury, the organisation supports the health needs of nearly 600,000 people and works with a strong commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and partnership with Māori.
About the role
Waitaha Canterbury operates an innovative Pain Management Centre at Burwood Hospital for people living with chronic non-malignant pain, often alongside other factors that affect overall wellbeing. The service works as an interdisciplinary team to help patients regain function that has been limited by pain. It delivers outpatient clinics and programmes, interventional procedures, and occasional inpatient admissions. The team is rebuilding and is looking for leaders who can support the centre in regaining Faculty of Pain Medicine accreditation as a recognised training centre.
Skills and experience
This role is open to a permanent full-time or part-time Pain Medicine Physician. Strong holistic practice within a multidisciplinary setting is essential. Candidates must be eligible for registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand and meet the relevant terms and conditions set by the Faculty of Pain Medicine. If you are not a Fellow of FPM Australia and New Zealand, you should complete the specialist international medical graduate self-assessment to check equivalence. You must also satisfy the Medical Council of New Zealand registration requirements.
