Role overview
This position is responsible for making sure that subcontractors and any lower-tier subcontractors on construction projects work in a lawful, contract-compliant, and ethical manner. The role helps safeguard the project, the company, and the client from legal exposure, monetary penalties, and damage to reputation, while supporting transparent, fair, and safe site practices.
Key responsibilities

- Apply compliance provisions, audit requirements, and downward-flow obligations within subcontractor contracts
- Carry out site inspections and unannounced checks to confirm working hours, qualifications, personal protective equipment, and health and safety standards
- Spot compliance risks such as unlawful employment, sham self-employment, corruption, and environmental concerns, then take steps to reduce them
- Run compliance awareness sessions, support training efforts, and serve as the primary on-site contact for compliance-related issues
- Keep records up to date, document breaches, and assist with investigations and enforcement activities together with internal teams and public authorities
Candidate profile
- A relevant academic background, such as Law, Business, Engineering, or Occupational Safety, along with several years of practical experience in compliance, labor law, or construction/site settings in Germany
- Strong command of German rules and subcontractor compliance practices
- Hands-on experience working with subcontractors and performing audits, inspections, or site oversight
- Good knowledge of construction-site operations, including EHS standards and compliance documentation expectations
