Job description

About the Role

This position is part of the Global Safety & Security team within Bain's Global Risk organization. The team's fundamental goal is to ensure the safety of employees by enhancing travel risk awareness, coordinating incident management, preparing for crises, and managing security communications throughout the firm. The Specialist will collaborate closely with colleagues globally and regionally to manage processes, tools, trainings, and communication efforts effectively. Reporting to the Senior Director, Global Safety and Security, this role is situated in Johannesburg and focuses primarily on EMEA region support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily coordination of safety and security operations focusing on accuracy, timely response, and reliable execution.
  • Organize safety training sessions, awareness campaigns, and communications targeted at employees.
  • Assist in managing security and safety incident responses, including documentation, internal communications, follow-ups, and administrative tasks.
  • Coordinate incident response drills and exercises, and compile after-action reports to bolster preparedness.
  • Support crisis communication efforts by preparing, formatting, distributing, and monitoring essential communications.
  • Collaborate with teams across offices and functions to implement safety and security initiatives.
  • Identify and recommend improvements for coordination methods, process documentation, and workflow efficiency.
  • Utilize digital and AI-powered tools responsibly to organize data, reduce administrative burden, enhance reporting quality, and aid training and communication material development.

Candidate Profile

  • Possess excellent coordination capabilities, sound judgment, and a composed, professional demeanor when handling sensitive matters.
  • Detail-oriented and a team player comfortable supporting a global team across multiple time zones.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Strong communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
  • Proficient in multitasking, meeting deadlines, and adapting to dynamic priorities.
  • Service-minded attitude with an ability to cooperate effectively across locations.
  • Experienced with Microsoft Office suite and quick to learn new digital platforms.
  • Familiar with global safety, security, incident response, travel risk management, business continuity, or crisis communications processes.
  • Skilled in maintaining operational databases, trackers, or records.
  • Familiarity with AI or productivity tools that improve coordination, report generation, document management, or knowledge base maintenance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent education, training, and relevant experience combination.
  • 4 to 6 years of applicable experience in coordination, operations, administration, safety, security, crisis support, or related areas.
  • Professional security certifications such as ASIS CPP, PSP, or PCI are beneficial.
