Role overview
This is a contractual position based in India. The team is seeking a detail-oriented HR professional who can work independently, evaluate situations objectively using facts, and support employees through the appeals process. The role is part of the Departures Team and focuses on ensuring employees are treated consistently and fairly throughout their appeal journey.
What this role involves
- Work with different stakeholders to build a clear understanding of the employee experience at Amazon.
- Review policy documents, historical policy application, and associate statements to reach fair and consistent outcomes.
- Study data from internal systems and suggest corrective actions based on the findings.
- Own case loads independently and close matters in a timely, definitive manner.
- Examine case data to spot trends, identify improvement opportunities, and recommend policy changes where needed.
- Recommend actions that help prevent broader process or policy issues.
- Build trust with employees and help maintain a positive associate experience.
- Handle challenging conversations with people at different levels across the organization.
- Reply quickly and accurately to employee queries and keep documentation complete and correct.
What success looks like
The right candidate will likely bring prior Amazon HR exposure, strong written and verbal communication, good interpersonal skills, strong organization, and the ability to balance competing priorities in a fast-moving environment. This role supports a wide range of employee situations and requires sound judgment and consistency.
Core responsibilities
- Review disciplinary cases in depth and assess whether policy was applied correctly and consistently using evidence and statements from employees or witnesses.
- Handle complex matters that may be escalated by others, requiring independent research and interpretation of internal and external policies and procedures.
- Serve as a knowledgeable point of contact for employees, team members, vendors, and customers, including senior leadership when needed.
- Resolve questions and gaps across the organization by coordinating with different internal and external groups.
- Manage case volumes so employee support is delivered on time and with minimal errors.
Basic qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree is required.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
- At least 4 years of HR experience.
- Background in problem-solving and delivering measurable results.
- Ability to work proactively and independently while meeting deadlines and completing assigned projects.
- Overall work experience of 5 to 7 years.
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive employee information while following strict confidentiality standards.
- Proven judgment in identifying when to escalate issues appropriately.
- Experience in a call center, distribution center, high-volume production operations setting, or at least 3 years of experience at Amazon.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience conducting investigations, including interviews with claimants, witnesses, and target employees, along with investigative analysis and documentation.
- Experience creating policies and supporting documentation.
- Additional experience managing sensitive employee data with strict confidentiality.
- Master’s degree in business, human resources, or a related discipline.
