Overview

This space planning role contributes directly to mission-critical work that supports national defense and the protection of sensitive operations.

This is a contingent role tied to contract award. The position is based in Alice Springs, Northern Territory, Australia, and is expected to be performed fully onsite.

Role Summary

The Space Planner will design and improve workspaces that are functional, efficient, and visually effective. The role combines planning, coordination, and technical design knowledge to create layouts that support organizational needs while following applicable standards and codes.

The ideal candidate is detail-focused, creative, and comfortable partnering with design and architectural teams as well as other stakeholders to deliver practical space solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate space needs and prepare detailed plans that improve layout efficiency.
• Partner with architects and design professionals to create usable and effective environments.
• Coordinate office moves, additions, and layout changes.
• Confirm that all spaces comply with health, safety, and organizational requirements.
• Apply quality control practices so installations and repairs meet required standards.
• Maintain clear communication with team members and project stakeholders throughout the work.
• Handle additional duties as needed.

Requirements

• Applicants must be either a United States or Australian citizen.
• A bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related discipline is required.
• Active TS/SCI with Polygraph or AUS PV clearance is required.
• At least 5 years of experience in space planning, facilities management, or interior design is needed.
• Strong knowledge of design principles and space optimization is expected.
• Ability to use CAD and similar design tools is required.
• Excellent attention to detail is important for quality and compliance.
• Flexibility to adjust to changing conditions, tools, and requirements is necessary.
• Sound judgment and decision-making skills are needed to resolve issues under pressure.
