Role Overview
The school is looking for a seasoned and energetic Social Studies Head of Department for the Primary Campus. This role involves guiding the department, shaping age-appropriate curriculum plans, supporting teachers, and ensuring that Social Studies is taught in an engaging, structured, and CBSE-compliant manner.
Key Responsibilities
- Set the academic direction for the Social Studies department in the primary wing.
- Develop and roll out lesson plans that suit the primary level and follow CBSE expectations, with an emphasis on interactive and hands-on learning.
- Coach and guide Social Studies teachers on teaching methods, classroom engagement, and assessment approaches.
- Track student progress, spot learning challenges, and introduce measures to improve outcomes.
- Plan and conduct training sessions and workshops to strengthen teaching practices.
- Oversee lesson preparation and delivery so that the subject feels relevant and interesting for young learners.
- Collaborate with school leadership, parents, and other department heads to support a balanced learning environment.
- Incorporate projects, role plays, field visits, and other activity-based methods to build curiosity and critical thinking.
- Maintain discipline and uphold school policies to ensure a positive classroom atmosphere.
Qualifications and Experience
Candidates should have a postgraduate qualification in Social Studies or a closely related subject along with B.Ed. For the more advanced leadership track, B.Ed. or M.Ed. is expected, with strong exposure to curriculum design, teacher training, and academic leadership.
Preferred experience includes at least 5 years of teaching, curriculum development, and academic leadership for one qualification level, while a more senior profile would typically bring 9+ years of experience in the same areas.
Screening and Selection
- Subject knowledge will be checked through a written test.
- MS Office proficiency will be assessed for documentation and planning tasks.
- A reading assessment will be conducted via Microsoft Teams.
- Candidates will also be asked to demonstrate leadership and teaching ability through a mock classroom session.
Work Details
This is a full-time, on-site role based in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh. The work schedule follows a day shift. Candidates should be able to commute to Vijayawada or be open to relocating with employer-supported relocation assistance.
Salary and Benefits
The monthly salary range is INR 20,000 to INR 40,000.
