About the role
CNN, part of Warner Bros. Discovery, is looking for a Social Producer to join its Off-Platform team in Burbank, California. The role is focused on expanding audience reach and strengthening engagement on major social platforms, especially TikTok and Instagram, with some work on YouTube. The ideal candidate follows TikTok and Instagram closely, understands how each platform works, and knows how to tailor content to the culture, mechanics, and incentives of each channel.
What you will do
- Develop, edit, and publish compelling social-first content for TikTok and Instagram in collaboration with the Video Editorial and Off-Platform teams.
- Test new storytelling approaches and product features across priority social channels.
- Cover live lifestyle events in real time for social platforms.
- Build serialized social content formats designed specifically for TikTok and Instagram.
- Create short-form vertical video that responds quickly to trends.
- Produce sponsored social content in formats suited to each platform.
- Review performance metrics, use data to guide decisions, and spot trends that can improve audience strategy.
- Select and package editorial partner content for TikTok and Instagram distribution on a rotating basis, with the goal of maximizing reach.
- Write social captions using strong SEO and GEO practices.
- Design custom thumbnails for distributed content.
- Serve as an internal point person for Off-Platform presentation, sharing feedback that can shape coverage choices and on-platform offerings.
Schedule and working conditions
This is a 24/7 business support role. The standard schedule is Sunday through Thursday, 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM ET. Candidates must also be open to working holidays and extended hours when business or news coverage requires it.
Qualifications and experience
- 3 to 6 years of social media experience at a media organization.
- Hands-on experience creating social content that includes video, visuals, and multimedia elements.
- Strong working knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro.
- Solid understanding of user behavior on major social platforms and the algorithms behind them.
- Excellent news judgment.
- Careful editing ability and strong creative copywriting skills.
- Experience with analytics tools and using insights to improve audience reach and engagement.
- Experience building social and digital franchise content is an advantage.
- Willingness to work holidays and extended hours as needed.
Compensation and benefits
The disclosed base pay range for this role is $77,000 to $143,000 per year. Total compensation may also include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. Warner Bros. Discovery also offers benefits such as health insurance, employee wellness support, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays, sick time, and vacation.
