Role overview
This position is for a careful and digitally aware Social Media Security Officer responsible for watching over the organization’s social channels, protecting account integrity, and responding to potential security issues. The role is centered on reducing brand risk, preventing unauthorized access, spotting online threats early, and making sure platform activity follows internal security standards.
Key responsibilities
- Keep a close watch on the organization’s official social accounts to identify unusual activity, unauthorized logins, or signs of compromise.
- Look into fake profiles, impersonation attempts, phishing messages, and scam activity aimed at the organization, and escalate findings appropriately.
- Act quickly when security incidents arise and work with internal teams such as IT, Legal, and PR to limit impact and resolve issues.
- Apply and reinforce company social media security rules, procedures, and recommended safe practices.
- Perform recurring checks of account access rights, user permissions, and security configurations.
- Monitor online threats, false information, and harmful content connected to the brand, then assess the possible impact.
- Assist with crisis response when social platforms are affected by reputational or security-related incidents.
- Keep accurate records of incidents, responses, and final outcomes in logs and reports.
- Help staff understand social media safety awareness and secure usage habits.
- Follow changes in social platform policies, emerging threat patterns, and new security risks.
