In a retail environment that changes quickly, clear and credible communication is essential for building trust, keeping teams aligned and increasing the impact of work across internal and external audiences.
The business is seeking an experienced Social Media Manager to support the delivery, day-to-day operations and performance of its social channels. Reporting to the Social Lead, this position will be key in keeping social activity efficient, scalable and measurable.
The role will support the wider social team by improving execution speed, while taking ownership of workflows, reporting, platform partnerships and channel operations across Debenhams, Coast and Burton. The position is based in the central Manchester office.
What you will do
This role centres on operational delivery, platform coordination and the systems that support social media activity.
You will help keep the social channels running smoothly, aligned with business priorities and focused on delivering results against engagement, traffic and revenue targets.
Channel operations and planning
- Assist the Social Lead in delivering social plans across all channels.
- Make sure everyday social activity is properly planned and executed, including trade requests, important business priorities and reactive content.
- Keep track of upcoming activity so key dates, cultural moments and opportunities are not overlooked.
- Ensure social activity is connected to important brand moments such as campaigns and launches.
- Manage content calendars so delivery stays organised and operationally efficient.
- Work closely with the Junior Social Content Manager to help ensure plans are implemented effectively.
Paid, organic and performance support
- Partner with the Paid Social team to keep organic and paid activity aligned.
- Spot opportunities to boost strong organic content through paid media.
- Use performance insight to guide future planning and investment decisions.
Platform partnerships and innovation
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with platform partners, including Pinterest, Meta, TikTok and YouTube.
- Stay current on changes, new features and opportunities across social platforms.
- Support planning for platform activity such as beta tests, launches and innovation projects.
- Help position Debenhams as a valuable partner for testing and early access to new features.
Reporting and operations
- Own the reporting rhythm, dashboards and performance-tracking frameworks.
- Maintain consistency in measurement and governance across all social activity.
- Produce regular reports covering performance, campaigns and competitor activity.
- Identify process gaps and keep improving workflows, planning methods and operating procedures.
What the company is looking for
The ideal candidate will have experience in social media, digital or marketing operations and a solid understanding of social platforms from both a performance and operational standpoint. Strong experience with reporting, data and performance metrics is important.
You should be highly organised, detail-oriented and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting. Strong communication and stakeholder management skills are essential. Experience working with platform partners or agencies would be an advantage.
